The New Color has launched at UT Austin!

THE NEW COLOR

Be Color Fluent Not Color Blind

The New Color Logo

On the University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas, THE NEW COLOR has launched! The goal for this multidisciplinary STEAM Learning Model (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) is to reframe the living color field as a dynamic phenomenon relevant to sensory perception, communication and visual literacy - not just for artists and designers - but for everyone.

THE NEW COLOR offers a multidisciplinary way to explore the dense networks of color codes coursing through our lives every day and gain practical color competencies for 21st century solutions. Students will experience color as an integrated STEAM discipline, a dynamic new paradigm where color is not only fundamental to communication across species, but vital to life on our planet.

Our guiding principle was that design is neither an intellectual nor a material affair, but simply an integral part of the stuff of life, necessary for everyone in a civilized society.
Walter Gropius, Founder, First Director, Bauhaus

Bauhaus@100 / THE NEW COLOR logo pays tribute to 100 year anniversary of the Bauhaus (1919-1933) a pioneering Art + Design school in Germany dedicated to gesamtkunstwerk, the Total Work of Art. Taking cue from early 20th century mentors who took work, collaboration, and play seriously, our Wednesday Evening Color Salons feature guest speakers paired with diverse color-focused topics.

Wednesday Evening Color Salons are free and open to UT and the public.
